Phase 2 Homes will be attending the JLC Live Residential Construction Show in Seattle from November 12 - 15. We are hoping to get some more interesting renovation ideas from the conference which includes sessions on green building, energy efficiency and custom home detail wood working. The conference also has a big exhibit hall with many big industry players where we are hoping to gain some product partnerships for equipment and products.

Thoughts on my trip to Alabama

I just returned from my volunteer work week in Alabama. It was a really great experience both from a work and personal perspective. The house we worked on was really in bad shape, both from neglect and from Katrina storm damage. The woman did not have running water even and it wasn't clear how long she had been without it. She got water from a relative next door in buckets and brought [...]

Sale Closed on Carroll Street Project

We closed our sale today on the Carroll Street, bringing this project to completion. It took us longer than we had anticipated (by about 1 month), but the end result was worth the extra time. We are really proud of the house and feel it really enhances what was already a great neighborhood. We had the fortune to get to celebrate with the new owners at the house this evening with some champagne and wished them well. We added some pictures of the interior to the project page for the Carroll Str [...]

Phase 2 Homes Charity Trip to Alabama

With the Carroll Street project wrapping up, I decided a good way to take a break after all our hard work would be to give something back to those in need. I was shocked to learn of how many homes in the South are still in need of serious repair 3 years after hurricane Katrina. Towards the end of October, I'm going to be travelling to Alabama (Bayou Le Batre - located in the far southern part of Alabama) to help a 78 year old grandmother who has a blue tarp for a roof. Hurricane Katrina spawn [...]

If others are still interested but couldn't meet the timeline yesterday, there is still time today. Please call Steve @ 408-480-1914 to let us know what your plans are and when you plan to have your offer ready.

One more open house on Sunday at Carroll Street

We had a great day today with our first open house at the Carroll Street house. The feedback from those that were able to come was overwhelming. It was great to see the excited reactions to some of the features we've incorporated into the house and the great response to our design descisions. There were a few people we had heard from that were not able to make it today, so to accomodate those people, we've decided to have one more open house tomorrow, Sunday, September 21st. We'll be having the [...]

Still on track for the weekend at Carroll Street

We are still on track to show the house this weekend. Lots of details are getting wrapped up this week and the house is really starting to look finished. The front of the house has been landscaped. The driveway was poured on Monday and looks great. The fencing along the driveway is also finished up. The exterior lighting on the back of the house and on the garage was installed. Inside the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers have been installed and we just have some touch up painting to do there [...]

Progress Update and Schedule News at Carroll Street

We are still having a few issues with sub-contractors schedules as we are wrapping up our project at Carroll Street. We are waiting for our cabinet doors at the moment to finish the kitchen work. Our painters cannot finish until these doors show up so they can finish the painting in the kitchen. The doors should be arriving on Friday and the painting crew will be back to f [...]

Progress update at Carroll Street

Despite our best efforts to finish up our project at Carroll Street this week, we are still looking at one more week to wrap up the last details. The painters that we use were only able to come last weekend and have not been able to give us any time this week due to a schedule conflict with another job. We are hoping to have them show up this coming weekend to get our painting wrapped up. This is not for certain yet, but we are hoping to confirm their time availability tomorrow.

Inside [...]

We've been working extra hours to try to get back on schedule at our house on Carroll Street this week. Lots of progress has been made this past week. As of today (Saturday 6/23) we have our trim work done on all the door casing and the window casing on the inside of the house as well as the base boards throughout the house. Painting has started on the trim work inside the house and will continue through the weekend. The bedrooms and bathrooms trim/casing was painted today along with th [...]

Floor Color at Carroll St

Yesterday they were able to get the floor sanding finished and the stain color applied to the floor. It came out even better than we had anticipated! The floor needs some time to dry before work can continue inside. Kitchen cabinet work should continue offsite while the floor is drying.

More to come soon a [...]

There are lots of things happening simulaneously these days at the Carroll Street house as we push to get things completed. Although the list of things to do is still fairly long, they are mostly detail finishing work at this point.

We started re-laying the original hardwood floor yesterday and expect to finish up the floor re-laying by the end of the week. Once its down, we are going to have it sanded, restained and then sealed. The floor material is still really nice for its age and s [...]

We have working lights and also working audio at the Carroll Street house. We had the electrical work finish up the details on the lighting. We also have working audio in the kitchen. The kitchen speakers were wired in and the A-Bus audio system was connected up allowing us to plugin an MP3 player to one of the wall inputs to play music in the house while we are working. Its very cool and sounds great! Work has also started on finishing the wiring for all the network and video cabling runs [...]
