Quick Progress update at Carroll StPosted by steve in progress, house projects |

There are lots of things happening simulaneously these days at the Carroll Street house as we push to get things completed. Although the list of things to do is still fairly long, they are mostly detail finishing work at this point.
We started re-laying the original hardwood floor yesterday and expect to finish up the floor re-laying by the end of the week. Once its down, we are going to have it sanded, restained and then sealed. The floor material is still really nice for its age and should create a beautiful floor when done. We were really pleased that we were able to reuse the original flooring as it lends some nice character to the house.
The garage siding was completed over the weekend. If you happen to drive by on Iowa street have a look at the stained glass window near the top of the front of the garage that we were able to restore and reframe. The original garage, which we had to demolish, had this window in it in roughly the same location that we put it. Again, we wanted to keep some of the original feel of the house while still making things new. Also, we are sheetrocking the inside of the garage this week to give it a more finished feel. Painting of the garage is due to begin on Thursday of this week.
Landscaping around the front and side of the house started this week with tilling the old soil, leveling the ground and fixing the old sprinkler system. They put in new bender board along the side and front of the house as well to create a planting area.We should have new grass installed in these locations by the weekend.
The master bathroom has been tiled and grouting of the tile is almost complete. In the hall bathroom, the tiling has started, and should be finished by the weekend as well. Out in front, we had the porched leveled up and new slate tile has been installed on the porch deck, but has not quite finished up the sides and front. The slate looks really nice and should complement the style and colors of the house.
More updates will be posted soon. For those of you that are interested in purchasing the house when its ready, we will be sending out information on the updates to the date and closer to the point that we are going to have the open house, we will provide price information.
