One the main feature sets that Phase 2 Homes puts into every house we work on is high tech wiring to all the rooms of the house with a common distribution point to manage the video, phone and network connections in the home. For the house at 395 Carroll Street we will be having 1 or 2 video and ethernet connections to each room along with a phone connection to each of the bedrooms and the Great Room. The common distribution panel provides easy access to all the wiring from a single location and allows reconfiguration if need be.
Honeywell QuickNetwork Panel
The distribution panel that was selected for this house is the Honeywell QuickNetwork Panel. It has a great amplified video distribution module that can accept cable or satellite video signals. We will be wiring the home for both satellite and cable service options so when the new owner moves in, it will be a simple matter of selecting either cable or satellite and having the provider enable the connection to the house. For the phone service, it has 12 distribution outputs that can be routed to all the rooms w/ phone lines. For the networking component, all that is needed is to patch the output from a router/switch to the rooms where you want to have network connections. The panel provides 6 zones of 2 video and 2 ethernet/phone connections to the home. We've upgraded the panel with an additional 3 zones plus added the audio speaker module. All the bedrooms will have 2 video and either 2 Ethernet or 1 Ethernet and 1 phone connection, the configuration is up to the owner. The Great Room will have 2 video and 2 ethernet connections for the home entertainment center and an additional ethernet/phone line connection. Each bedroom will have video, ethernet and phone. The kitchen will have network and phone connections as well as a video connection. Even the garage will have video, ethernet and phone hookups for those that may want to use the garage as a workshop and watch the ball game while working. We spent extra on all the cable runs in the house and are using high quality RG6 coax cable and CAT6 for the Data/Phone connections. This means the data lines will be able to run at the high network speeds as they become more readily available.
Audio Too!
We are also adding an Audio module to the Honeywell distribution panel. This will allow for an audio source to be fed to the kitchen where we will have ceiling mounted speakers and to speaker hookups for the backyard. We are planning to put the input for this source at the main entertainment hookups in the Great Room.
